World Health Organization appealed agricultural producers and food industry enterprises to stop using antibiotics needlessly.
80% of all antibiotics are used in livestock sector. Quite often medical substances are regularly given to healthy animals — for acceleration or prevention of diseases. Because of their unreasonable usage all these antibiotics get into a human body with meat and milk. As a result many bacterial infections in a human body become resistant to antibiotics and will not respond to treatments any more.
New WHO recommendations "are submitted to preservation of efficiency of antibiotics important for treatment". Experts remind that antibiotics play an important role not only in treatment of such diseases as tuberculosis, pneumonia and gonorrhea, but also in prevention of the accompanying infections after cancer therapy and organ donation.
