Russia has lifted the ban on pork products imported from the EU

Upon the demand of the World Trade Organization since December 6, Rosselkhoznadzor has lifted the ban on pork import from the European Union countries. This ban was introduced because of the African swine fever. At the same time it is impossible to import pork products to the Russian Federation still — this type of goods is included in embargo list.

The organization does not expect deterioration in current situation with African swine fever in the country while embargo remains in force. It is a political prohibition on import of food from the EU. "But it is necessary to understand that after the ban will be lifted there will be threat to Russian pig-breeding farms" — reported Yuli Melano, the official representative of Rosselkhoznadzor.
