Wind River Visitors Council

Wind River Visitors Council is a tourism organization based in Lander, Wyoming. It was founded in 1989 through a Joint Powers Agreement involving the Fremont County Commissioners and the cities of Lander, Riverton, and the towns of Dubois, Hudson, and Shoshoni. The council's mission is to stimulate tourism by increasing awareness of and encouraging visitation to the unique destinations, activities, and events in Wind River Country. The organization operates as a Lodging Tax Board, utilizing the four percent lodging tax to promote the travel and tourism industry in the area. The council is represented by 10 board members appointed by local city councils and the Fremont County Commissioners. The Wind River Visitors Council also manages various programs, including the Tourism Asset Development program, which allocates a portion of the lodging tax back to the communities based on their contributions. The council actively engages with tourists and local businesses to enhance the tourism experience in the region.
