Nearly 20 student leaders from across Illinois gathered in Bloomington-Normal for two days of focused career and leadership development at the Premier 20 Leadership Conference. The event brought together top young representatives of the state’s youth agriculture programs for workshops, peer discussions and practical skill sessions. Nearly 20 student leaders participated in sessions aimed at preparing them for roles in farm businesses, agribusiness and community leadership.

The conference roster included the top Illinois FFA section presidents and recipients of the Illinois 4-H Sustaining the Future Award, all of whom were invited to participate. Organizers positioned the gathering as a selective opportunity for emerging leaders within the state’s agricultural youth networks, combining organizational overviews with hands-on professional training. Top Illinois FFA presidents and 4-H awardees used the conference to expand their professional networks inside the industry.

Workshops and peer-led discussions covered a range of practical topics tailored to early-career agriculture students, from understanding the Illinois Farm Bureau family of companies to entrepreneurship basics, networking strategies, resume preparation and interview techniques. Sessions also examined interpersonal skills, including approaches to working with different personalities in team and workplace settings.
