The high prices for European pork stimulated growth of the export prices on the world market.
Pork export prices continued to grow in the second quarter of 2017 and reached its maximum in January, 2015. The average export cost for pork on the world market according to the 4 largest suppliers — the EU, America, Brazil and Canada — in June of the current year was 2,75 dollars per kilo. It is 9% more, than in 2016 and became a two-year maximum.
During the first half of 2017 the prices for pork in the EU were the highest among other suppliers. Such drastic increase in prices can negatively affect the European pork export.
